The final event of the CIMEC project will focus on sharing the main findings of the project and on next steps.

Conference participants will learn about the views and requirements of cities regarding C-ITS, the current state of the supplier market and where deployment in cities can happen which is beneficial to, and minimises risk, to city authorities.

This event will also provide an opportunity to learn about national programmes and plans for cities to move towards C-ITS deployment as well as European activities in this area.

UK guide to connected vehicles for local authorities
 
TTF - guide for LAs

The Transport Technology Forum, a voluntary body indirectly funded by the UK government, has produced a guide to connected vehicles for local authorities.

The guide was produced in order to (i) address the widespread lack of understanding of connected vehicles among local authorities, which was highlighted in a recent survey, and (ii) guide local authorities on what they can do in order to harness the benefits of connected vehicles.

C-ITS and public transport
 
eurotransport magazine

The public transport magazine Eurotransport has published an article, drafted by CIMEC partner Polis, on the role C-ITS can play in the public transport sector. In essence, the article makes a call to the public transport community to engage in C-ITS developments to ensure new C-ITS developments take account of their requirements.

Unique collection of reports on views and requirements of cities and suppliers regarding C-ITS

A number of useful reports produced by CIMEC and sister project CODECS are now available for downloading. These reports provide insight to:

  • the views of cities regarding C-ITS,
  • those C-ITS applications that could appeal to cities (to deliver traffic management and enforcement functions),
  • what needs to be considered/explored for deployment to happen (integration, organisational issues, business model, etc)
  • the views of the supplier market
  • technical requirements, including standardisation.

This body of knowledge is quite unique and is intended to make the wider C-ITS community aware of the real challenges, requirements and opportunities for C-ITS in the urban environment, from the point of view of a city authority.
